BuyAssociation.co.uk Health & Beauty editor Felicity Quigley talks to the infamous party girl about her decision to have a boob job and why she doesn’t do Botox ®.
Jodie Marsh is one happy lady. Last year she underwent breast augmentation surgery – something, she says, she’s always known she wanted to do. “I just woke up one morning and decided, this is the year I’m going to do something about it. I got sick of the tabloids criticising me for having saggy breasts, and I felt embarrassed and self conscious, to the point where I didn’t even want to take my bra off in the bedroom. Now I’ve had them done, I am so happy with them that I just wish I’d done it earlier.”
I catch Jodie on her way back from having a post-op check up for her newly boosted breasts. Jodie is now a size 32G – quite buxom, all things considered, but Jodie doesn’t quite agree, “I used to wear a push-up bra all the time,” she says, “and now my boobs look exactly the way they always did in the push-up bra. They’re not saggy anymore, they are pert and firm. I didn’t just want a breast lift, I wanted more cleavage, just like my push-up bra used to give me.”
I ask Jodie about her choice of surgeon, Mr Alex Karidis. “I chose Mr Karidis because he’d been recommended to me so many times and I’d seen examples of his work, “she says. “I’ve seen so many dodgy boob jobs with the nipples in the wrong place or crooked, it was really important for me to trust my surgeon. I know he’s quite high profile as well, and I figured if things did go wrong with my procedure that it wouldn’t be good PR for him!”
Jodie’s preparation before the surgery was minimal, and afterwards the most frustrating thing for her was the lack of mobility. “I was out clubbing a week later!” she reveals, “but I couldn’t dance, I had to keep pretty still, which was annoying.” In terms of the pain she endured post-surgery, Jodie says that it wasn’t that bad – she was given pain killers – and that the pain of getting a tattoo was worse.
What about having other cosmetic surgery? “I wouldn’t have any other surgery done at the moment, but I may in the future. Now I know how easy it is to have something corrected it’s certainly something I’d consider if I wasn’t happy with an aspect of my body or face,” she says. What about non-surgical procedures such as Botox ®? “Oh no, I wouldn’t have Botox®,” she states vehemently, “I know people who’ve had it, and most of the time their faces look bloated and shiny, like someone who’s had too much surgery. It’s just not for me.” She has, however had veneers on her teeth, which she loves.
Jodie’s advice to women who are thinking about having breast surgery: “If you’re doing it for the right reasons, if you know it will make you happier and it’s affecting your confidence and the way you behave, then just go for it!”
